Do you have any authors that you really just click with? Even if you don’t always agree with them, you always enjoy what they write. Michael Lewis is that for me. His most beloved and famous books are The Big Short and Moneyball. Both have been turned into movies. The books are vastly more interesting than the well-done movies, however. I am recommending his tiny book, Coach, which tells the story of a coach, Billy Fitzgerald, who changed Lewis’s life. Great coaches do just that (as do great teachers)! The story is also about the effort by current parents at the school to get Coach Fitz fired because they worry about the impact of his intensity on their sons. It might be a great book for every teacher and parent to read. It is very accessible and takes about 45 minutes to read and it is written by Michael Lewis, so the writing is stellar.
